KAREN BARRATT fine art photography & collage
After many years as both a photographer and a collagist I took the obvious step of embracing the digital. Current work has been photographic collage using digital media. I was initially drawn to collage because it gives the maker a fantastically diverse palette of colours, shapes and reference. Digital media let me take the process further, enabling use of family photographs, pictures from weekends away,
holiday landscapes, Renaissance art, architectural detail and scanned images of
anything – found randomly or made intentionally - to craft pictures that then
hold for me the meanings of all the different sources, put into a new story.
