Abstract Landscapes
I\'ve always very much liked pattern: this series of pieces is something of a \'one step beyond\' in that I\'m introducing a random element and trying to make chance come up with some sort of pattern.
Originally I had the idea of taking intentionally blurred pictures of very bright coloured objects (muslin, cushions, tinsel, reflective plastics) so that an unpredictable abstract resulted. I noticed that some of these pictures ended up looking like simplified landscapes.
Drawn to the trompe-l\'oeil of this I evolved a haphazard method of swinging the camera while taking the shot in order to produce something that could be construed as an abstract landscape in watercolour; or, if printed onto canvas, in oils or acrylic. Emotion drawn from almost nothing.
