DOLLS' HOUSE series

In my Dolls' House Dramas I created vignettes using digital collaging, playing with photographs past and present, and posing dolls' house furniture to tell a story. Shrinking friends and family and placing them into little fantasies surprised me by reinforcing what we already know somewhere: that dolls' houses are not just cosy, but also rather sinister and claustrophobic. Trapped in them are the powerless parts of childhood as well as the wholesome.

These are enormously elaborate and labour-intensive pieces that with any luck ended up looking effortless.
