Still life photographs
I wanted to take the idea of a conventional, staid still life and take it further - eventually, to an extreme. I\'m somewhere in the middle of this process. \'Abstract Reflections\', taken in a small house in a French village called Cipieres, shows the beginning of the \'going wild\' effect I\'m hoping to reach, with recognisable jug and bottles, yet with the beginning of disintegrating objects - the oil bottle with stopper hidden on the right, the top of the jar becoming only a red circle.
Developing the idea produced wilder images. \'Chinoiserie\' was taken on the balcony of an apartment in Rome, in full summer light. I tried to use only objects found in the apartment, though sometimes cheated - for example by going out and buying the multi-coloured dried flowers. Using reflections in water and curved glass complicates the image.
Work in progress: dark and dense compositions based on Dutch and Spanish still lifes.
